This class is designed to help the student find a balance between expressive singing and healthy singing. Musical theatre singing is a process and should always come from the “character” being portrayed. It is an outward expression of what is going on internally. The character IS the music. Students will learn how to develop self-awareness and authenticity while making choices and committing to them.
This class encourages creativity, self-expression, and confidence while helping students discover the true magic of musical theatre: using their voice to tell a story. Whether they are singing a heartfelt ballad, an energetic showstopper, or stepping onto the stage for the first time, every performer will take away skills that will benefit them beyond the stage.
Shreveport native, graduate of Byrd High School. Holds four music degrees, including the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas. Extensive experience with over 50 children’s musical productions , and over a dozen children’s 5-day music arts camps.
